Catch it small, not after the leak
A single shifted slate or a cracked ridge mortar joint is a quick fix. Left alone through a winter, the same defect turns into a wet ceiling and a much bigger bill.
We replace what is damaged, rework the ridge where needed and apply a protective coating that slows moss down and keeps the surface watertight.
01 Around the chimney
The area around the chimney is particularly exposed to weather and temperature fluctuations. Damaged or leaking areas can lead to long-term moisture damage to the building.
We carry out targeted repair and remedial work around the chimney and at individual points on the roof. This involves fixing smaller areas of damage, replacing damaged components and making sure affected areas are properly sealed again. This includes, among other things:
- Aluminium cladding and chimney flashing
- Repair and replacement of gutters
- Replacement of individual damaged roof tiles
- Repair of connections and transitions
- Sealing work around the chimney
- Remedial work on minor roof damage
We pay attention not only to how it functions, but also to a clean and visually appropriate finish.
02 Individual repairs on the roof
Most of what goes wrong on a roof goes wrong in one place. A tile that has slipped, a ridge joint that has cracked, a verge that has opened at the gable – small faults, each of them a way in for water, none of them a reason to touch the rest of the slope.
So we repair them as they are found, tile by tile and joint by joint. Where the same fault keeps coming back we say what is causing it, rather than replacing the same tile every spring and calling that maintenance.
Chimney work already puts us on the roof with the access equipment in place. That is why these repairs so often happen in the same visit as a sweep or a survey: the expensive part of the job is already paid for.
03 Roof coating
Alongside targeted repair work, we also offer professional roof coatings. A coating protects the surface of the roof tiles from the effects of weather and enhances the appearance of the roof.
For roof coating we work with high-quality products from Schuettec. Selection and preparation of the roof are handled individually – because not every roof and not every tile is suitable for a coating.
Before carrying out the work, we assess the condition of the roof surface and advise you personally on whether a roof coating makes sense for your roof. This lays the groundwork for a professional, long-lasting solution.
04 What a coating will not do
A coating protects a sound roof. It does not repair a broken one, and it does not give back years to a tile whose surface has already gone – sealing a porous tile hides how far it has travelled without slowing it down.
The repairs come first, then, and the assessment comes before both. If your roof is not a candidate we will say so on the day, rather than quote for work that would look right for two summers and no longer.

It slows it down; it does not end the argument. Moss grows where a surface stays damp, and a coated tile sheds water faster than a bare one. On a shaded north slope you will still see it return eventually, later and thinner than before.
Whenever possible, no. If we are already on the roof for a sweep or a survey, the access is in place and the small faults get handled there and then. That is usually the cheapest moment in the whole life of a repair.
